Four billion mobile phones
http://www.teleread.org/2009/02/06/m...-surprise-you/
(Sourced from http://communities-dominate.blogs.co...ion-users.html) There are four billion cellphones in the world. 10% of those are smartphones. Four hundred million smartphones. Suddenly Amazon's realization that they should try to get themselves some of that makes a lot more sense, doesn't it? |

Even if Amazon decided to abandon Mobipocket they may not be able to convince publishers to drop DRM yet. I do wonder how much they make licensing their DRM, though. We always talk about the things that inflate the price of books and this is continually on the list but it would be helpful to know how much. |
