I can see why they didn't advertise the web browser. It is probably very buggy, and they probably won't advertise it until a firmware update fixes the bugs, then they will claim that the firmware update gives it web browsing abilities. The browser seemed pretty fast and responsive in that video (at least compared to other eink readers).

Unfortunately (for me at least) you can't use the browser to download books and then read them.

Kobo Touch has one, too. They clearly say it is beta on the reader itself, and don't advertise it, but it is there. I can't imagine using it in place of my cell phone or computer, but it's there and working.

Yeah, being that buggy I wouldn't advertise it either. Plus, if they advertised the browser as a feature, then they would have to include it's use in any "normal use" measurement of battery life, and they are really plugging the battery life as a selling point. A future FW update should be able to make the browser usable. Right now, it's almost as bad as the standard Nook browser.

You can find it on the WiFi tab in settings. It works. Hyperlinks work too. It's ugly, but functional.

Not to be negative towards the new nook, but barnes and noble did a whole lot of porting from the color without finishing for the nook. It is really tacky.

well, then: welcome to low battery life, folks.

I was very pleased in the beginning to have everything into one networked device. Now I just keep networking to a bare minimum, as it's the main battery drainer... good thing I've got myself already a huge library of public domain ebooks to keep me busy for the next decades...
