Priced at $149: my crystal ball, as exercised in the original T1 thread, is obviously working well:

Quote:
€165 with VAT is €138.61 without VAT, which is $201 at today's exchange rate. But I agree that it's unlikely to be this much - European prices are generally significantly above US prices. I suspect it's more likely to be in the $150 range.

The built-in 802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity also lets users wirelessly borrow eBooks from public libraries -- a first for e-readers, apparently -- in the UK, US, and Canada.
This is a big plus. I'm betting Amazon does the same thing with their library book implementation.

1GHz Intel processor ? It seems to be impressive but how does it compare to other readers ?
I have the PRS 650 but I don't know how fast my processor is. Does anyone know ?

Also 5 weeks of reading between charges ? mine can take up to 3 weeks. Is that just advertizing or do they really mean 5 weeks as in an improved consumption/battery ratio ?

It's a Freescale i.MX31 (ARM1136JF-S core), running at a maximum speed of 532MHz (the CPU speed slows down, to save power, when it's idle).

So the new reader is twice faster (which inherently uses up more battery power) and still the battery not only lasts the same but in fact can last almost twice more ? That sounds too good to be true. But if true, it's rather great news. Color would have made it perfect !

They will have defined a 'standard' number of pages read per day, time switched on, and so on, and used that to calculate their expected battery life. If you read more than their standard, your battery will last less time. It doesn't really mean anything.

Yes but on their same standard estimate, my PRS 650 is supposed to last 2 weeks, (mine lasts 3 weeks, guess I don't use it that much). so if by the same standard they go from 2 weeks to 5, this should be amazing regardless of actual use.
