The bad news is that I only managed about 7,000 words of fiction this month, which is less than I'd planned.

However, it's somewhat extenuating, as I wrote 50,000 words of paid non-fiction in the same time and something had to give.

My biggest success metric applies to the paid work and is called "Breakfast."

If I work, I get paid, so I eat.

I just realized one of my goals of having a prose poem accepted by S.T. Joshi just came true.

Now, onward to other markets.

Working toward a goal of finishing a novel this year, so far I have eight chapters outlined for "The Perishers".

So far, so good.

April is the cruelest month. I have some serious catching up to do, but I aim to hit the middle-point of a novel toward the end of May. Good luck all.

That may be because my birthday is in April

I've not had a bad month. I didn't do as much writing as I'd like, but I have an audiobook in the review stage, and I've just accepted an offer for one of my books to be translated into Italian.

Okay, one of the two longer short stories (5000 words -- by far the longest piece I've ever written) has reached the "completed first draft" stage. I've set it aside to rest, but hope to have it all polished and shiny within a couple of months.

The other has had some serious rewrites, but it's about three fourths done. It should also come out to about 5000 words or so.

I got an email this morning informing me that the audio book of A Damn Close-Run Thing is now available. This wasn't on my list of goals, mainly because ACX wasn't open to UK authors at the start of the year, and I couldn't afford to pay a narrator, but they started accepting UK authors last month.

The same book is in the process of being translated into Italian and Spanish

But after this one, a new genre/series and 5,000-10,000 words per Novelette every 1.5-2 weeks

I shoot for
500 wpd
weekends 2,000 Words per day

doesn't sound like much but I have a fulltime day job and a 4 hour night job...
