Would that not then exclude the rest of the non-fiction world? biography, cookbooks, non-military history, self-help, sciences, etc?

I read it as asking why a new thread needs to be started every month instead of just having a continuing thread like say the Kobo discounts thread. Last edited by AnemicOak; 08-24-2014 at 10:43 PM. |

At least putting the most regularly viewed/updated threads in the stickies makes them quick and easy to find. I don't currently see evidence of single book threads being discouraged. I make no bones about the fact that I would prefer books to go into the appropriate monthly thread, and obviously be a single thread if there is no clear thread for it. These genre deal threads are generally busy and prominent anyway--how does it help for to be stickies? I think the change is pretty silly, but if every other category under the sun gets to be a sticky, audiobooks should be a sticky too. |

It's brand new, so it's unlikely to be perfect yet. (I also pointed out the comics thread to Dr. Drib since it's getting regular updates since a new member joined in July and started posting deals in it regularly.) I'm sure they'll sort out some of the other popular threads as well. Right now it looks like they started with the ones that already had Free/Bargain or Free & Bargain in their titles. Audiobooks is just "Current Audiobook Specials" so you can see how they might have missed it, and the comics thread is just "Comics". |

I don't see how "Current Audiobook Specials" with almost three thousand posts and nearly a quarter of a million page views could be overlooked by accident. I really don't.

I guess in this case I don't either (although I can't really get myself bothered about it or anything) it just seems unnecessary. It's not like the genre threads were hard to find or the forum was overwhelmed by other posts. The genre threads are very active so can almost always be found on the first or sometimes second page of the forum. I guess I think of stickies as something for special threads that you need everyone to see, like rules or FAQ threads, making a large number of the daily active threads kind of negates that, but what do I know.

On topic, I personally like the stickies, now the threads are more visible when I visit this sub-forum as I don't subscribe to any of them and I don't access them from my user panel. Well done moderators.
I had trouble finding Sci-fi one regularly. Because sometimes it's inactive for a couple of days, and there was this one user that kept posting individual titles from different genres as separate threads. So it would get buried. Last edited by Geralt; 08-25-2014 at 06:17 AM. |

The forum has tools that makes it very easy for us to monitor threads we are interested in. Why not use them and save ourselves the frustration you're describing? |

It's not a frustration really, I would find them in a minute or two. I just think having them as sticky makes a forum more visible and clearly arranged. So I commend the moderation on it. On the other hand I don't get the turmoil that it causes for some people. Makes no sense. It's not like they will be the ones in charge of sticking, un-sticking of new threads every month. |
