Free Ebook on Kindle - Her Wiccan, Wiccan Ways
The Samhain freebies this month continue with Her Wiccan, Wiccan Ways by Traci Hall.
Book Description Just one spell. Problem solved. How hard can it be? Rhiannon Godfrey is a psychic prodigy, but her parents don-t see things her way. They think she needs a -normal- high school experience-she wants to stay in trendy Vegas. In the small farming town of Crystal Lake, being Wiccan doesn-t exactly help the Godfreys blend in. Beyond angry, Rhiannon neglects to inform her parents the farmhouse they just bought is haunted. Instead, she decides to use the resident ghost to prove that she belongs back in Dr. Richards-s Institute of Parapsychology. Not that dispelling ghosts is her area of expertise, but really, how hard can it be? And then there-s Jared Roberts. Totally hot. For a cowboy, that is. Only problem? He comes with an evil twin sister, the shallow and popular Janet. Janet-s only goal is to make Rhee-s life miserable. So when she and her friends decide it-s time for a little payback, Rhee goes to her mother-s book of spells. Janet needs to be taught a lesson, and what harm can come from a few words? Just one little spell. Warning: Read at your own risk! Scary ghosts and magickal (sic) moments inside. |

What a nice idea! Is there any chance of non-Kindle freebies? Even more importantly, how about non-Kindle non-DRM freebies that can be downloaded from a web-site (perhaps from the publisher)? That would:
If you were even more ambitious, you could get Fictionwise and Books-On-Board and smashwords and others in on distributing your freebie. That'd broaden your reach still farther. Xenophon |

Xenophon,
Please don't shoot the messenger! I do agree with you, but for some reason Samhain is only putting their freebies up on the Kindle (I suspect some sort of exclusive deal, which lets them do an unusually large number of free titles, as other authors and publishers have had to really jump thru hoops to get a title listed at no charge). As for the Sony store - I hate it too. Sony, however, thinks that if you bought their reader, you'll put up with anything to download their overpriced content. |

But I try to make that particular batch of suggestions to any author or publisher who shows up with a limited format or limited distribution freebie (no matter which format or which distributor). My thinking is that the thing they need most is attention and reach into as broad a market as possible. Although Kindle is the biggest one-stop-shop in the eBook world, it falls far short of being a majority -- so getting the titles out there for the rest of us serves author, publisher, and readers all at the same time. What's not to like? Xenophon |

It would certainly be something to suggest to Samhain. They do sell their books DRM free and re-downloadable in multiple formats at their own ebook store My Bookstore and More. Don't know why their freebies are Kindle only. |
