I would take a look at getting KOReader running on the Glo myself, but I have other stuff on my plate right now. Hopefully someone will step up.

I noticed the official release and thought I'll do it sooner or later, but if someone manages to mainline the support before I find the time, that's better for everyone

Hi Giorgio,
I am now trying this one, but when I launch it using the tweaks nothing happens - yet other commands work. Any suggestions? Here is my kobotweaks.ini file

Launcher=tweaks.executeSystemCmd(\"/mnt/onboard/.kobo/KoboLauncher/KoboLauncher.sh\")
Sleep=tweaks.sleep()
Reading Life=tweaks.readingLife()
Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong?

Hi paola, I don't really know what could be the cause. Please have a look if in the kindlepdfviewer folder there's a file called crash.log; if that's the case paste the content.
Thanks for testing!

interesting: there is no kindlepdfviewer folder
so obviously something goes wrong in the installation. Mind you, I tried it at least four times. I will try again and report back.

EDIT: my mistake, I had unwittingly created another directory, so the command could not find it. After palying around it with a bit, let me say it is GREAT, and the offset problem has gone. Only real snag is, I cannot reach the "x" to exit the programme from the filebrowser, and the programme just freezes there (I have to reboot the device to solve the problem), though I do have to wait a fair number of minutes, otherwise the device is completely unresponsive).

EDIT2: sorry, short memory - this was an issue from the beginning, as well as the landscape mode not working. Still, it is really good, and wiht just the landscape and the exit menu (as I think is the case in the new release) it would be really perfect. Thanks a million Giorgio!

Hi luksurious,

welcome to join kpv and koreader community We maintain our documents in the wiki:
https://github.com/koreader/koreader-base/wiki
https://github.com/koreader/koreader/wiki

you can find out guide on build environment setup in the wiki. Also I would recommend you develop on Linux machine (even a VM will be very helpful).

As for Lua, no worry, most of the Koreader developers, me included, learn Lua halfway through hacking ;p

PS: we add gettext support to koreader recently, and it now shipped with Turkish and Chinese translation. If you want to start other translations, feel free to send request to https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/koreader/

EDIT: never mind, I missed some new replies and seems that luksurious already got the dev environment set up, great

^ up. I'm asking it because I installed it but I've not noticed any additional feature (apart the continuos reading). Maybe can it open Kindle proprietary formats?

This is not the pdf reader commonly found in kindles, it's an alternative document viewer originally developed for kindles. The biggest advantage over the built-in viewer is obviously reflow, but there are others, like the thing that it uses the entire screen without fiddling with zoom etc. Many other features are planned or already implemented in "KOReader", which is the latest release, but I haven't found the time to port that yet.

Hi
Do you think the ported koreader will work on the new Aura HD? I have been holding on to my Kindle keyboard because the new features Amazon was coming up with were not appealing enough to upgrade (I convert everything to kindle-formatted PDF and use kpdfreader all the time). Now, 30% bigger screen is a major enhancement but it would be worthless for me if it doesn't support the kpdfreader/koreader.

Thanks,
Alex
