Thanks!
That is why I LOVE folder view! The old Sansa Clip+ had it, and the two (well three, but the other one isn't up for discussion) AGPTek players I have also have it. I don't think the Clip Zip had it.
On the Home page, instead of selecting Music I select Folder View. Under that I have Local Folder or Card Folder. Under that I made a folder called Audiobooks. Then under that I have folders that I have drag/dropped onto the player that are the titles of the audiobooks. Within those are my mp3 files. Does that make sense? It's just navigating to the correct folder, clicking on it, hitting play. I do make an attempt at labeling my mp3 files using mp3Tag, but I can't swear they are all perfect.
Home
--Folder View
-- Local Folder Card Folder
-- Audiobook
-- Title of Book
-- Book (mp3 files)

In case anyone is wondering, I often split my Audials books into smaller pieces, about an hour long each. And my library offers older CD books for a couple bucks as they get taken out of circulation. I can't remember the name, but one of them had 99 tracks on each CD. What a pain!
I hope that isn't too confusing!

Thank you, that's very helpful. And with Tuneskit new software to convert audible audiobooks (I'm waiting to check the quality of the conversion to post about it), I might just drop the sansa.

FYI, if you're on Windows AAX to MP3 will do the job without buying something like Tuneskit.

The Sansa Clip Zip can utilize folders. Make a folder (ex: Led Zeppelin), drop some songs in it. Copy it into the music folder on the Sansa. Then you can go to music and scroll to folders, and that way you can play just what is in the folder.

The Clip Sport also can use folders. I have author folders with subfolders for book titles.

I will be getting my AGPTek player today and will report on my first impressions.

Well, learned something new today! I always just dropped them into the book folder, never thought of putting them into music.
Thank you very much!

Just got my new AGPTek mp3 player; so far, so good. I am having some difficulty with the controls because of having gotten used to the Clip Sport, which was slightly different from the Clip Zip. And of course I didn't read the brief instructions, instead deciding to wing it.

I was in the middle of a book on the Sport, so I've just moved it over to the AGPTek to continue listening. I haven't inserted a card or tried playing music or radio, or investigated the various settings; I want to finish my book first.

I did try the Bluetooth, but I'm having some trouble with it. The player won't pair with my primary stereo despite several tries; it paired easily with my cheapie little bathroom speaker and with an external receiver on a second stereo. Don't have a clue what the problem might be (I tried pairing my phone with that primary stereo, and had no trouble, so the problem must be with the AGPTek).

I think this will work out just fine. Silverraven, thanks again for the reviews!

Whew! I'm so glad!
Not sure about the Bluetooth thing. I don't do much with that.

First quirky thing I noticed with the AGPTek--when it got to the last file in the book folder, it immediately went to the next folder and started that next book, whereas the Sansa players would just stop.

The volume controls are on the opposite side from what I'm used to, and the earphone jack is at the top, which is also where the on/off button is (which you slide, not hold). My earphones have a right angle plug, which worked better with the side placement of the jack on the Sansa, but is slightly in the way now.

The description at Amazon didn't mention a little silicone cover that was included--same as for the two similar clips from AGPTek. It doesn't come with earphones, which is fine with me.

Ages ago (I use a Clip+ now), I had a player that did that and it annoyed me as it would start playing that first story (I only listen to audiobooks and PodCast story downloads), one that I had heard before.

My "fix" was to add an "outro" clip as the last file. Since that player, and my Clip+ in "folder" mode) played in alpha order I named that file "zzThatsAllFolks" as it was a clip of the old Looney Tunes closing theme. This served as an announcement that I needed to reload the player with more new stuff.

It's no big deal, except this time I dozed off near the end of a book and woke up a couple of chapters into the next book!

I finally got the AGPTek Bluetooth to see my primary stereo, though it took a few more tries. Weird. If I'm still happy with this player after using it for a while, I'll get another to use for music, and that's when Bluetooth will be more important.

Actually the Jam has a folder view! I hadn't paid attention much it seems.

I didn't know about the AAX to MP3 software! Are the results very good in quality? I was impressed with the speed the tuneskit software converted The Way of Kings (a 45 hours audiobook converted in less than an hour) but I have yet to test the quality. What I can say is the Jam won't play the lossless quality result. And I need to convert the longer books because the Jam takes its time to start playing the book when you're past the 10 hours mark.

Thanks for the information!

Edit: it turns out that the fast rate conversion was for the lossless quality, which seemss to be just a de-drming of the audible file. Converting to MP3 took much longer.

I just converted a 13-hour aax file to a 96kbps mp3 file with aaxtomp3; it took 8 minutes.

Does aaxtomp3 split the audible files or does it keep it whole? I'd prefer whole myself.

Another question: which settings do you choose for your conversion? My clip jam doesn't recognise the MP3 I get with conversion. Or maybe the files are just too long.
