Does the T1 have the same folders for books in the main memory (i.e. documents/media/books)? Does it support SD cards? If it does support SD cards, post the debug output with the sd card inserted.

The folders for books in the main memory are Sony_Reader/media/books. It does support microSD, but I do not have one yet.

To confirm: The folder in the main memory is Sony_Reader/media/books
not database/media/books (as it is in all the previous SONY readers?)

Also, if you a put a book file somewhere else, for example, in test/somebook.epub, does the reader pick it up?

I copied all the authors folders from the Calibre Library folder on my pc, directly to the test folder on the T1 (including the cover.jpg). The reader finds all books, some with the proper cover (picture), some with the text only cover.
I attached some print screens with the directory structure.

Try the build available at: http://calibre-ebook.com/downloads/betas/

it includes a driver based on the information you posted.

I installed the beta and run the welcome wizard again selecting Sony generic. Calibre added the device icon to the toolbar but gave "error communicating with the device":
calibre, version 0.8.21
ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device

The SONY XML cache "'H:\\\\database\\\\cache\\\\media.xml'" does not exist. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your reader.

DeviceError: The SONY XML cache "'H:\\\\database\\\\cache\\\\media.xml'" does not exist. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your reader.

I disconnected and reconnected. It found again the device, with the same comm error. I checked with explorer and there is no media.xml in H:\database\cache (location is empty). There is a H:\Sony_Reader\database\cache\books\ with folder 1 for book 1, 2 for book 2, etc. but there is no media.xml that I can see.

Hmm looks like SONY have changed the software on the device completely. I've uploaded a build with a generic driver that will allow you to send books to and delete books from the device. Support for advanced features like collections/periodicals will have to wait until some calibre developer actually gets a T1.

Again, at: http://calibre-ebook.com/downloads/betas/

OK, um, so, would it be possible to make donations for Calibre specifying the money goes to purchasing a T1 for development purposes?

I bet we can get the Sony people on board for some donations ... I know I really rely on the tag/collection thing with my 950.

Sure, you can use a service like chip-in to set up something like that. The only problem is that I am in the midst of relocating to India, so it will have to be shipped to india, which will raise its price considerably. Wait and see if one of the other calibre devs is interested, chaley uses a PRS-350 currently, I think. He is in the UK, so it should be easier to get it for him.
