S/N=Jailbreakable Firmware?

Hi, how can I check S/N to see if device is eligible for software jailbreak before buying? Thanks.

Nowadays, you should be more worried about which FW it's running, how long it's been away from the factory, and how many hands it has gone through since then.

But to answer the original question: you can't, it's been quite a while since those were actually printed on the device. They might still be printed somewhere on the box, but it's been a while since I checked that. (c.f., wiki).

S/N with bar code is still printed on the box even on the PW3 Manga refurbs I got from Woot (probably just so Amazon can keep track of shipments).

That said, yep, S/N doesn't really tell one if the device is jail-breakable on recent devices.
