Pocketbook at CES

So, it's CES and no news from Pocketbook? I think many of us were hoping that this would be the time for the Mirasol reader announcement. It's not likely that the Mirasol booth will show off anything but demos, same as last year. I guess we're in for yet another year of waiting.

a new Qualcomm sourced Mirasol video has come out

You can see that the design is very much like that of the IQ, including the buttons along the portrait bottom, and probably very close to what the final device will look like.

I've seen the video, but it's just a digital mockup of a non-existent product. I'd be more interested in seeing or hearing something concrete from the company that is actually going to bring a mirasol reader to market.

But they're not talking.
And, frankly, given all the open issues on their plate for the 6xx/9xx, the 360/302, and the IQ, it is likely best they stay mum unless they're shipping it in Q1/2011.

Just read about the Pocketbook press conference at CES. Extremely disappointing, but then again, they never promised us anything in the first place.

Apparently Pocketbook just told Engadget that the announcement will come at CeBIT in March.

Makes more sense; closer to release date (if it's really Q3/11) and by then they shoud have settled the backlog of open issues and reestablshed their credibility. Or not.

Pocketbook is attending the CeBIT with its own booth. I won't be there, but maybe one of the other German members will pay a visit.
