Kierkegaard, Sören: Selections from the Writings of Kierkegaard, v.1, 19 October 2008

Sören Kierkegaard (1813–1855)
Selections from the Writings of Kierkegaard
Translated by L.M. Hollander
Adjunct Professor of Germanic Languages
University of Texas Bulletin. No. 2326: July 8, 1923.

This book was the first appearance in English of any of Kierkegaard's writings. The translator was then adjunct professor of Germanic Languages at the University of Texas. The selections are from Either/Or, Stages in Life’s Way, Fear and Trembling, and two shorter works. It was an important step in the dissemination of Kierkegaard's works.

Is it "Sören" or "Sĝren"?

In modern Danish it's "Sĝren", but maybe in his time it was still "Sören"...

That's a fair point, Jelby. I've seen it both ways, and I suspect that "Sĝren" is more accurate.
But I went with "Sören" for two reasons:
1. I know that Book Designer and Mobicreator will cope with umlauts, but I'm not sure whether they would reproduce the ĝ character properly.
2. My source used "Sören".

Perhaps we have a forum member who is familiar with 19th-century Danish and can comment?
I may experiment with the ĝ and see what Book Designer does with it.
