Ich habe gerade die ARC von "Himmler's War" beendet ... was wäre passiert, wenn Hitler vor dem Stauffenberg-Attentat bei einem Angriff auf die "Wolfsschanze" getötet worden wäre?
Hat sich nicht schlecht gelesen - und läßt mich so oder so dafür dankbar sein,nicht in dieser Zeit bewußt gelebt zu haben

Ich lese gerade Mike Brotherton's Star Dragon. So ganz überzeugt es mich nicht. Das Setting und die Idee sind interessant, aber an die Charaktere komme ich irgendwie nicht ran. Außerdem nerven die Fehler in Rechtschreibung und Grammatik auf Dauer doch ein wenig...

Bei mir ist es gerade "The Falls" (auf deutsch "Niagara") von Joyce Carol Oates. Sehr spannend geschrieben, sodass ich es kaum aus der Hand legen kann, und obwohl ich erst ca. ein Drittel durch habe, kann ich schon sagen, dass das eins der Bücher wird die ich nicht so schnell vergesse.

Ich lese gerade "The Curse of the Pharaoh", Bd. 2 aus der Amelia Peabody Reihe von Elizabeth Peters.

Die Krimis sind in Ägypten um 1900 angesiedelt. Die resolute Amelia ist ab dem 2. Band mit einem Archäologen verheiratet und begleitet ihn zu seinen Ausgrabungen. Amüsant geschrieben, nette Unterhaltung für zwischendurch. Als Bonus hat die Autorin selbst einen Doktor in Ägyptologie und gibt einen recht interessanten und authentischen Einblick in die Anfänge der Archäologie am Nil.

Ansonsten freue ich mich auf den neuen Terry Pratchett. Snuff. Kommandeur Mumm (Vimes) macht Ferien. Erscheint am 11.10.

Gerade fertig mit "Someone knows my name" von Lawrence Hill.
Die (fiktive) Biographie einer 1745 geborenen Afrikanerin, die im Alter von 11 Jahren von Sklavenhändlern in die USA verschleppt wurde und die sich, trotz all der entsetzlichen Erlebnisse, ihre Menschlichkeit bewahrt hat. Sehr flüssig, spannend, und wie ich denke auch realitätsnah, geschrieben.
