Favorite TAGs: how to create a list?

I use the software "Adobe Lightroom" for managing pics, you can add hierarchical keywords to them. In its panel "keywording" there is a self-creating separate list called "keyword suggestions" with the most/last used keywords jumping to the top.

When using hierarchies to tag items a last/most used list like that makes it a lot easier to tag them.

I ask myself if a thing like that would in some way be possible to achieve in calibre, a self-refreshing list of last/most used tags making assigning them much faster, without having to muddle through a large/deep hierarchical list each time?

Simply change the completion mode tweak in Preferences->Tweaks to 'contains'

then typing a few consecutive letters from anywhere in the tag will show you the matching tag. For example if you have the tag: Fiction.Military.WW2 to get it in the completion list you just type ww2.

Thanks a lot!
Yes, completion = "contains" is a quite good work-around for tagging items one-by-one.

But what about if several groups of items like newspapers/periodicals need to be tagged each day by different hierarchical tags?

I'm not sure what you are asking. If you want to tag several items with one tag, use the bulk metadata edit. If you want to tag each item with a different tag, then use the completion trick I described for each tag.

I use the recently introduced feature to Copy and Paste metadata from one book to one or more other books- e.g. copy metadata from last weeks Woman's Weekly with Ctrl+C, and paste to this weeks Woman's Weekly with Ctrl+V. There's a Tweak that allows you to control which columns get copied.
