It can't be much more than a novella (if that), to have a novelette jammed in there and still fit into 162 pages in print. It would barely qualify as a full novel at that length, if it were the only thing in the volume.

Well, its kinda hard to classify what it is. Its about 50k words together which is an odd word count for a non-anthology book. But its really not an anthology since the two stories are like two parts of a story. I guess technically we can call it as short novel by two authors (I think SFWA's defination of a novella is up to 40k words, though I'm not sure).

Hence we are just saying a 162 page book which at least gives the buyer an idea of what to expect in terms of the length of the book. One can call it a combination of a novella and a novelette, or a short book, or a short novel (Galouye's classic Simulacron-3 is about 54k words) or whatever.

Regards,

Shahid

A short novel, then. One of the best things about the move to digital is that people are now free to write at whatever length fits the work and not what length fits the market. The key is to be clear in the product description if the length is something non-standard. After that, readers can make their own decisions.
