I am curious. Does it support Sym Links? So, a book will show in more than one folder? Sort of a poor mans tags?

Let's all please stay on topic and in the spirit of the OP.

There is a proper place to post information on Freebies and where a full discussion can take place.

But we were, I thought, still on topic, referring to the Recent Files folder, and what you might or might not want in there, and possible ways/ideas for an update.

But, apologies if this is not the case.

One category I discovered on the Sony that was very useful and I think I want on the first page/top folder is a sort of favorites one. I put books that I re-read and piece at like Lord of the Rings and The Stand, as well as new books that I'm currently working on.

With folders support, I can divide it up into subcategories like this:

1. Favorites
2. New
2. Always Up
2. Not quite done
2. Reference

Here I mean Favorites to be on the front screen and those numbered "2" to be under that, with the books placed in those "2" level folders.

Now if we can only find out whether the EZPro will really have eReader, I could start assembling a wish list at B&N. (I don't really like ePub as it currently displays.)

Personally I just have a folder for each author on my Opus. That's an arrangement which works very well for me, and keeps "tidy" the prolific authors, such as my 50+ Agatha Christies.

That is the way I have my ebooks organized also is by the author. And I have my tech PDF files organized by the subject matter.

Well, the nice thing about this approach is that it is what Calibre will automatically support.

Ideally, I would probably like an approach that lets me create a "To Be Read" folder with shortcuts to the new books. I know that such shortcuts don't exist, but I did say ideally.

I agree, by the way, I do want the "recent files" directory, that I way I can go back to the books I was reading.... not sure what you don't like about that

this would easily be done with symbolic links, and since both the original and the open ink are based on linux, this should be native stuff.

Unfortunately, however, because most people will use the device with a Windows PC, it's a FAT32 file system, and FAT32 file systems don't support symbolic links.

If I recall, FAT32 was a format last used with the Windows ME OS. They now use NTSF.

It is still used on SD cards for maximum portability, see wiki: SD card: file system.
