mp3 player playback time

On the mp3 player screen there is a playback timer and a progress bar. But how does this work? Do they flash the screen only on these locations of the screen. And do you see for every second a black block.

Hmm. If I recall correctly, the little dot moves accross the bar, and the timer dohickey counts, but the e-ink refresh means it looks a little funky while it does it. It doesn't refresh the whole screen, just the parts involved in the changes.

Ok, thanks NatCh. I thought it could only refresh the whole screen. :P
