There's a 4th partition, which is actually the 1st partition. This contains ARM specific boot code iirc. it's the empty space in front of the other 3 partitions.

Good to know that my post proves useful! It is a shame that ereaders have phased out the micro-sd card slot.

I just fold the tongue to be behind the Clara and then plug the cable in. It still charges and sleeps

I just picked one of these up. My original Glo was starting to give up the ghost.

Now, just to figure out how to get all my books from the Glo to the Clara easily.

Thanks. So no change on that, but could be bypassed using kepub... good to know.

The ability to upgrade the microsd is great. But the need to reboot to an alternative system (koreader/plato) to read PDFs is annoying... being able to launch koreader from within nickel would make the kobos ideal readers

To my mind just using KSM with coolreader (plus koreader or plato for pdfs) is ideal.

So you never use nickel and reboot go back to KSM menu if you want to switch between coolreader & koreader or plato?

Hum, should have tried that. Using nickel for epubs & rebooting to read pdfs with koreader was annoying. KSM + koreader/plato & coolreader could be the way to go. Thanks!

Coming from a PW3, the clara hd really zips. No delay issues at all. I recall the glo hd being a bit slower. Quite satisifed with the clara. Threw a pop socket on the back of it today. Man those things are neat!

Yep, shame they got rid of the external slot. Still, I appreciate the relative ease of opening the chassis and being able to replace the internal microSD card with an aftermarket one.

Alas, the desktop PC (motherboard) just gave up the ghost. Gonna need full replacement. Looks like no more e-reader purchases for me.

Because you can open the Clara quite easily, you can clone the SD card to one with a higher capacity and if you want to try installing other software on your Clara, you can without risk of bricking since you'd be working with a backup SD card.

Also, one thing that's much much better then the new nook is the shape. Clara has a much nicer shape and much nicer to hold.

And then there is the firmware. Kobo has a better firmware than B&N.

Sorry, but the bezel on the nook is horrible. Clara is a much nicer piece of of hardware.

Lots of people jailbreak/hack their Kindles in order to get them to do things they cannot do by default. Kobo does more out of the box than Kindles.

There's no perfect Reader. And patching/jailbreaking/hacking is how to make them more to your liking.

Why would anyone? CoolReader is awful. It really doesn't do all that great a job of rendering ePub. We already have two better renderers in the Kobo firmware.
