Send calming thoughts my way for my first Audition on Wednesday!

Hi everybody!

I've got a slightly "esoteric" request to all my friends here at mobileread.com today...

As some of you might know I'm a musician, a violinist to be precise. I'm finished with the main part of studying (means I've got my "Diplom") and am currently in the process of applying for jobs.

I got my first invitations for auditions and have the very first real and serious audition on next wednesday, the 14th of March 2007.
I'm not expecting to get the job since it's a rather big deal (First Violin, Staatskapelle Dresden, Semperoper) and I have got zero audition experience so far. If I can go there and play my stuff reasonably well, then I'll consider it to be a success...nerves can really make that hard though.

Now, let's get to the interesting part...

I'm no believer, I don't believe in any of the religions that float about here and there and i'm not into any "esoteric" stuff either. But since I think it can't do any harm...

I'd like to ask all of you who can and would like to, to send calming and supporting thoughts my way on Wednesday Morning (German time). The audition starts at 10:00 and I have no idea when my turn will be...

I'm starting to feel nervous already...

I'll let you know about the outcome. I'll be leaving for Dresden on Tuesday morning and will return sometime Wednesday evening.

That is so cool! But I know how much competition there is for such things.

Best wishes in your hunt and this audition Wednesday. Be sure to let us know how it goes! I hope it does turn into a really nice experience, and that you end up in just the right place... whether it's this position or another!

It has to be something like 1pm in Germany already. I'm thinking he might be done already, and possibly got hung up discussing terms of the contract because they were afraid to even let him leave the building! ;-)

I wasn't awake early enough today (wrong time zone), but I've been thinking positive thoughts for you since Monday. I hope all went well! From a philosophical point of view, I believe all that matters is that you play from the heart, but from a practical point of view, it sure would be nice to get paid! Anyway, it's great that you got the audition. Let us know how it turned out!

I did not get the job, but that was to be expected anyway...so I'm not too dissappointed. I played quite well considering nerves and everything, so I achiceved at least part of what I wanted. I'll have another audition in a different opera house next thursday, and I hope I'll get more invitations for more auditions later on. It is said that it takes thirty audiions on average to get a job, so I'm still doing fine...
I'm on the train home now, writing this with my mobile phone...so I'd better stop now before I break a finger...

Thanks for the update! It will be exciting to hear when you find that perfect spot for you!

Congratulations on the good performance. I'm sure that being put on the spot like that will get easier and easier with practice.

Thirty auditions?! I hope they don't treat you like they do on American Idol! ;-)

Gee, after 30 performances for experts (and hopefully some great feedback), you will be a seasoned performer before you even start your new job!
