It does work with a magnetic popsocket. I don't have a magnetic charger, so I can not speak to that.

The clear back cover is significantly lighter than my third party origami cover. 63 g vs 144 g. A big plus IMO.

I always use cases. Protection from shocks, scratches, drops, etc. Also, cases add thickness and texture for a better grip. (I don't care for "thinness" in a device, and the added weight of a case doesn't matter much.)

Obviously the weight doesn't matter much to you. Sounds like you are reading while you are sitting.

To me weight matters quite a lot, because I read between five and eight hours each day lying on my side and holding the device one handed.

I also read while sitting, but I always hold my device in one hand and the weight matters to me a lot too. The added weight is the main reason I don't use cases.

Let me guess, you need the other hand to pet a cat, right 😁

This seems to be one of the 'we are all different' things. I do not mind weight when I read sitting, mostly because I only do it while waiting at the doctors/dentist or on my way to them in the bus, which never takes long.

However did you guess?!

Seriously though, that's not the only reason - I'm nearsighted and putting my ereader down on my lap or on a table while reading would leave it too far from my eyes for comfortable reading with my preferred font size. So I prefer to hold it in my hand.

My Forma doesn't have a case - when not in use (or when travelling), it lives in a lightly-padded bookbag. Previous ereaders did have cases, not always an OEM case. My Kobo Touch lived in a Kindle case which fitted it perfectly.

At the moment, I rarely travel, so I don't see the need for a case. Besides, as with others, I hold mine one-handed, I'm short sighted, and I get tendonitis in both wrists so I'm very sensitive to the weight of a device.

The only ereader I ever broke was my Elonex when I fell asleep on the sofa, and put my elbow on it when I woke and tried to get up. I never managed to find a replacement screen.

Now you have single handedly ruined reading in bed for me.
I need to find out how much the display repair kit is ASAP.

I've seen quite a few Gecko covers on Amazon Canada but not sure if they were sold by Gecko or third party vendors.

I just had a look on Gecko's website. It looks like they don't have much and most likely won't last much longer.

I've always had a cover for my ereaders, ever since I started with the sony 505. I just bought a pocketbook era and I'm going to try it without. We'll see how it goes

It won't be as good to hold and you lose the protection. Plus, you won't be able to take it out of the house as it will have no protection.
