Don't think I ever purchased from them, except for some HumbleBundle stuff.

Their FAQ makes me think their service wasn't meaningfully different than buying the comics on Kindle:

Do I own the comics in my bookshelf?

Technically, you do not. As with Kindle, Nook, and other e-book companies, you license the right to read the book on supported and authorized devices.
