Can't Access Kindle Touch Storage
Hi,
I decided to post here because I have spent days trying and searching for a solution to this problem to no avail. I have a Kindle Touch and I use Calibre on Ubuntu 13.04 to manage it. The other day my kindle would only mount as read only, which after doing a little bit of searching, I figured out was because this is what a Linux OS does when the drive is corrupt. So I reset my kindle and it showed up as an unreadable, un-mountable file system. I can still register my kindle, download books, etc through the kindle itself, but the file system is still unreadable. After reformatting the kindle to FAT32, all of my previously downloaded content disappears, Calibre recognizes it as a kindle, and I can transfer books over, but they won't show up on the kindle itself. After turning the kindle off and on again, the file system becomes unreadable just like before. I have even tried using KUBRICK live CD to see if that will somehow fix his problem, but it hasn't. Through using KUBRICK, I believe my kindle is now Jailbroken. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have utilized as much of my techy knowledge up to this point and you guys are my only hope. Thanks in advance. |

Please post what is happening in your logs while you're plugging the Kindle in.
I.e. Code:
sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog |

Try different ports on that machine
and/or try on a different (newer) machine. |

I have tried it on different ports, different cords, and a newer PC. On the PC pretty much the same thing happened. It told me I couldn't use the drive until it was formatted. So I would format it, all of my content would get erased, and none of the books I attempted to transfer would show up.

The second computer was Windows. How would I go about getting the logs?

Try to manually reformat the partition again, or use Kubrick with all options checked (i.e. reinstall FW, blast local and USB storage) to revert to "factory fresh". If this keeps happening persistently, it's probably a hardware fault. I don't have any other explanation.

I kind of recall this MAYBE being linked to some weird "battery too low" issue, a sort of "failsafe" mode. Of course it could just be that the device has decided that "something is horribly wrong" and has dropped to this mode.
I have zero idea how to fix/check it though... That would be my thoughts. |

Isn't there an option someplace to reformat the Kindle via the Kindle's system software? If so, I would suggest doing so.
