How long do we need to support NEW users that have antique OS?
Poor me . My Calibre (and Sigil) evolved to where it (the current feature set) would not run on my old Athelon CPU (did not matter if Linux or XP. The chip no longer provided support for the modules needed for these apps).

Old users (of Calibre) have warning to backup their config folder (where the installed Plugins are), in case they need to restore.
There will not be changes or features added to these OLD versions, so leave the burden on the few that are stuck on these minimal systems.
Switching to Linux, may allow these under powered/ limited RAM systems to continue to be used for a while, but at some point, parts are going to fail and they need to move on. Folk with limited resources, should check with their local community, there may be donated/replacement hardware (and folk to help transition files) for little or no cost.

There are some that cannot run Calibre because of an old video card driver even though they are running a new enough OS.

I wasn't keen on the manual deselecting metadata sources, so only Goodreads_Rating is enabled.

I think I have a workaround: leave Publisher unchecked in Metadata fields to download for all sources except Goodreads_Rating. Also ensure Goodreads_Rating is actually updated the same as with other sources. Seems to work for me, only downside is I have to take whatever Publisher is pulled from Goodreads_Rating. I'd rather have that than toggling metadata sources.

Edit: One other downside is if you redownload metadata, the Publisher field will get the appended rating each time. If you don't care, good enough. I do, so I made a shortcut to f_rating so I can quickly fix it.

Is anyone having challenges pulling the Goodreads ratings into their gr_rating column? Recently, I have been receiving this Index Error:

FAIR WARNING: I am often in over my head with Calibre, so have probably created an ID10T error somehow. My individual book metadata is showing the info in the Publisher field as I expected (JBengtssonBooks#PrB.rating#4.65); it's just not moving the decimal rating to the gr_ratings column like it used to.

Hi,
I used the goodreads_rating f_rating on another computer with good results. Now i'm activating this again on my other computer, but it seems to have a problem. It can find the Goodreads ID but still ends with Title: None, Authors: None.
What could be the problem here?

The original goodreads plugin offers now the same funtion, so there is no beed any more for a separate float rating plugin.

I understand that the float rating pluging is not needed anymore. But does it still work ?

I have the impression that the rating is found (in my example) but not put in the publisher field. Shouldn't that be the result ? Or am i completely wrong here ?
