Onyx Boox, Kobo or something else?
Please help me!!
At this moment I use the Onyx Boox 60, a very old version but I like the brand. I am looking at a new e reader for my birthday. But there are so many Good ones on the market at this day and I don't know which one I should buy. Because I know Onyx Boox from my first e reader I looked at the i62 hd Firefly. It seems to be a great e reader. I like the fact you can transfer your maps from the computer in to the box (Something Kobo can't?) and that they have buttons to turn the page (in stead of only touch). But I also heard good stories about Kobo Glo or Kobo Aura. All though they seem to freeze al lot and so thats why I am not sure it will be a good buy. I also love the Kindle paperwhite but this one doesn't accept Epub and because I live in the Netherlands my books are most in Epub. I don't like to convert all my books in to kindle because I allready have more then 8000 books. Could be hours of work I think! Who helps me to but the right one?? |

I own a Kobo Touch, and I'm pretty active over on the Kobo subforum. I've had a very positive experience overall with Kobo. If I could afford it I would buy the Aura HD in a heartbeat, with the Glo a close second.

I own a glo, and with a lot of books (over 2000 or so) it is extremely slow to process them when they are uploaded, also any of the library functions are painfully slow. I have experimented with an ext formatted microSDcard, see https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=213727 , which helped, but did not solve the problem.
I will definately be getting an ereader with a file browser rather than library functions next time, onyx would fit that requirement. |

I also heard about the slow progress with more books on the Kobo. I am going to travel for 6 months from september so I want to take as many books as I can. A file browser would suit me the best I think but that is also because I am used to it. I love it that I can order my ebooks on my laptop in maps and transfer them straight in my Ebook. Has the Aura also the slow problem and the library function? |

I thought I responded but don't see my message.
So trying again! @OttDmk: No experiences with freezing or getting slow? How about transferring maps from my laptop on to the Aura? Is this possible. @Jlynton: Thanks! Thats what I am worried about the most. Getting slow with a lot of books and the library function. I am going to travel for more then 6 months and I do want to add all my ebooks to my reader so that could be a problem. |

If you want folders, either buy another Onyx or a PocketBook. The new PocketBook Touch Lux (also known as PocketBook 623) is comparable to the Onyx Firefly, but a lot cheaper.
Last year I bought a PocketBook Touch 622 to replace my Onyx Boox 60, and I am more than happy. |

I've encountered a freeze maybe twice in the year and a half I've owned the device. I've never had it get slow on me. However, I'm not a huge library on the device guy; I have dozens of books on my reader, not hundreds or thousands.
As for maps... it could work. Doubt it would be ideal, but it would be very much an individual assessment. If possible, put some maps on a sd card and try it out on an Aura. |

Google for 'pocketbook touch lux site:.nl' or 'pocketbook touch 623 site:.nl'.
Or find a shop in Germany that will send the reader to the Netherlands. |

I read somewhere that the light on the Onyx Firefly is much better than the pocketbook touch lux. Can anyone confirm?
