A possible solution to the NetGalley LCP problem?

I don't do NetGalley so can't confirm if it works. But thought I'd throw this out here:

Have NetGalley Send-to-Kindle, obtain file from Kindle device or Kindle for PC, then import into calibre to liberate and convert.

That does seems to be the easiest solution for eBooks from NetGalley.

Congrats! Now your books are so accessible that they're impossible to read.

(As we all know, being able to customize fonts or margins is inaccessible and EVIL!)

All DRM is bad and I really dislike these readium fellows in particular due to their hiding behind "open source" and "accessibility". "If we're not doing it, somebody even worse would be in charge!" Yeah, I'm not buying it.
I'm glad to see someone else sharing my troubles with Swedish libraries and their new app. Though I'd like to say it's not because of the libraries that this happened, it's due to the company providing the e-book solution being bought up and the new company deciding to remake the app. They've justified this by claiming that the new EU directive made them do this, but I think it's instead to make Swedish libraries dependent on their app and ecosystem.

As you say, their ebooks in their app is already protected by LCP, so why can't they also at least provide LCP-protected files for us to download and read on another reader outside of their really bad app? I'm quite frustrated over the situation.

I am new to NetGalley (since 2024), however this is the solution I am currently using to read on my Kobo's after they flipped the switch and went all-out LCP mode leaving user like me in the limbo. My kindle which I had pretty much retired, is back again being used as an intermediary for NetGalley eBooks.

All my reading is done on my Kobo's using KOReader.
On the plus side, after being forced to use this method, I no longer worry about the book expiring, those books are now permanently part of my Calibre library.
