Calibre supports .docx.
Just save yout .doc files as .docx in Word or what ever else you are using and then calibre supports them. |

And there is DOC Input plugin for conversion. It will only work on Windows as it needs an executable from MS to do the work. And while the plugin works, using DOCX or something else is a better solution.
