E-books spark battle inside the publishing industry

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...122403326.html

Quote:
But if the publishers want a role in the e-books business, they'll need to get over it and get on with it, embracing lower-priced e-books with higher author royalties. That seems unlikely. Because it's now clear that publishers just don't want to listen to what their customers are telling them.
Get over it!

It's just saying the same old thing in a different way - producers want to get paid more, consumers want to pay less, hardly novel. The real issue is the perceived value of books, which appears to be in decline again. Publishing has gone through many squeezes in the past and adapted to generate profits in a different manner. The ones who'll suffer will be the authors, unless they relish the idea of being paid by the word.

Only if they stay with the old publishers.
