New features:
Debian/Android Dualboot in one SD card;
WiFi auto-connecting;
manetic cover sleeping;
Long-Press Light button to show/hide the tool bar;

Some new softwares: Iceape ,Liferea,Osmo...

System/source codes/guides:

I splitted the big 7z file in to serveral parts, they are in the 'debian-android.split" directory, they should be decompressed twice

Heck yeah! Creating a Debian chroot is easy, but I haven't yet figured out how to make updating the framebuffer actually draw to the screen yet. Or does fbdev take care of it automatically? I haven't gotten around to trying X yet.

I spot Netsurf on your screenshot, which I think would work great for on-device browsing. Have you tried if e.g. Liferea provides a usable interface as well? An RSS reader is sorely missing on the default software.

I was thinking in the direction of compiling Synergy on the device itself to use my regular mouse and keyboard and then running applications on my desktop transported through ssh -C. A bit roundabout perhaps, but I'd want to at least give it a try before discounting it because it might allow the use of heavy software like LO Writer. (Although I prefer Markdown and LaTeX regardless, so not the biggest problem if latency were too high.)

Hi!

I rebuilt Xorg server to make framebuffer updating, many debian programs could work well. The packages are ready now, installation guide is here:

@AxaRu
You're probably aware, but I figured I should mention that messing with the boot and Linux image stuff is a lot riskier than anything else you could do. Make an extra backup or two of the whole internal microSD first, that kind of thing. :P

@guang6321
I'd also be really interested in the sources or configuration for the stuff you modified, especially u-boot, the kernel, and X.org. I assume the customs DEBs are simply compiled against the custom xserver without any modifications of their own? And there's also all of these fun little utilities under /opt/kobo/bin.

@Those interested in browsing the contents of the image.

Figure out the internal partitions:
Code:
$ sudo parted kobo-hd-debian-rootfs-20141013.img
[sudo] password for blabla:
GNU Parted 3.2
Using /home/blabla/kobo-hd-debian-rootfs-20141013.img
Welcome to GNU Parted! Type 'help' to view a list of commands.
(parted) unit
Unit?  [compact]? B
(parted) print
Model:  (file)
Disk /home/blabla/kobo-hd-debian-rootfs-20141013.img: 7818182656B
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: msdos
Disk Flags:

Number Start End Size Type File system Flags
 1      67108864B    6507462655B  6440353792B  primary  ext4
 2      6541017088B  6675234815B  134217728B   primary  fat32
 3      6708789248B  7782531071B  1073741824B  primary  fat32

(parted) quit
Okay, so the offset of the actual Debian system is 67108864. Now we can mount it:

Code:
$ mkdir mount-deb
$ sudo mount -o loop,ro,offset=67108864 kobo-hd-debian-rootfs-20141013.img mount-deb
Be sure to take a look at /opt/kobo.

@Frenzie
I have all source codes to build the system, the source codes are huge, I will upload when ready.
The customs DEBs are modified to fix bugs, and the most important modification is Xorg-Server, that makes Eink work in Debian.

The guide:

1. Download the packages:
SecondBoot-20141015.7z
DebianRootfs-20141013.7z
Win32DiskImager-0.9.5.7z
Here:http://pan.baidu.com/s/1eQpcmHk

unpack them all:
--SecondBoot-20141015
--------BootMenu
--------NoBootMenu

--DebianRootfs-20141013.7z
--------kobo-hd-debian-rootfs-20141013.img

--Win32DiskImager-0.9.5

2. copy system to SD card:
Prepare a sdcard, 8GB size at least, use W32DiskImager.exe to write kobo-hd-debian-rootfs-20141013.img into the SD card;
On Ubuntu、Linux use: dd if=./kobo-hd-debian-rootfs-20141013.img of=/dev/sdX; sync; sync; (sdX is your SD partition)

3. install Second Bootloader:
--------BootMenu/KoboRoot.tgz (this patch contains a boot menu)
--------NoBootMenu/KoboRoot.tgz(this does not contain boot menu. when led blinks, touch the screen to choose which system to boot. the first one third part of the screen is offical system, the second part is Debian,, and the third part is Debian with USB Host Mode)
Connect Kobo to PC, choose a KoboRoot.tgz, copy KoboRoot.tgz to .kobo directory, then remove USB to update it.

4. the users and passwords:
xu,password:xu
root,password:root

Fantastic. I'll check it out later.

Edit: 14 kB/s download from China. *taps fingers*

The same thing happened last time, but when I tried at a later point in time it went at 2 MB/s. Oh well, I'll have to be patient. :P

HI!

The Wi-Fi setting and the Battery indicator are in Settings
The easy way to add a repository is add it into /etc/apt/sources.list
