This method didn't work anymore as my Kobo was almost fully bricked.

Hello,
can you send me also the image of the SD card. Unfortunately I have installed wrong firmware 2.6.1. I already versoch to also copy the recoverfs on rootfs. it has brought nothing. The LED lights up pink (actually a sign of recovery) but after a short time to start the new kobo and then pink LED.
Thanks in advance!

MODEL: N905C
FCC ID: NOIKBN905C
IC: 8857A-KBN905C

I bricked my Kobo after I updated it with a wrong firmware (N905B-Firmware). After that it was stuck at the "restarting" screen. A factory reset (small pinhole in the back of the kobo) would only lead to a flashing green LED, but nothing more.

So I suspect the Kobo tried to boot the wrong firmware and got stuck in this process. What I did now was:

1. Download the correct Firmware-Version and unzip it
2. Remove the SD from inside the Kobo and put it into my computer
3. Put the files inside the firmware-folder into the .kobo-Folder on the SD-Card (I'm on a Mac, but this folder should be the same for any user. If not, look it up in a tutorial for updating your Kobo manually)
4. Put the SD back into the Kobo
5. Reset the Kobo with the Pinhole-Method

After that the green LED kept flashing until my Kobo was alive again. It's fully functional now.

I hope this helps, as this method should be a lot easier than searching or asking for the SD-Image.

THANK YOU!!! YOU RESURRECTED MY TOUCH!!!

By the way, quite unnerving taking the plastic back off, but you just have go slow and steady

Hi,
the Kobo is not really on.
1. There is no Wlan function
2. Kobo will not connect with the PC (no Drive)

Can i copy a new Frimware (2.6.1) direct to the internal SD-Card?
or must i edit something in the image?

Thanks

From memory, when I did this, it had some problems. I did a factory reset, and the cleared everything up. Then I upgraded the firmware.

You could copy the firmware files to the .kobo directory of the third partition. Installing directly to the root partition might not work as the update code doesn't just unpack the files.

I can´t mount the 3. partition with write access.
In the 2. partition i see an update folder with the same structure like in the firmware.zip the upgrade folder, but i cant mount this.
Can you combine the image and the update for me?
