New Kindle Fire OS 3.0 "Mojito"
Amazon announced a new OS to run on the latest 2013 edition Kindle Fire HDX and the new Fire HD. Here's the press release:

It might be too soon to pounce on Amazon for lack of support of the previous HD. They may not have had time to thoroughly test it out before announcement.
I'm thoroughly pleased with my rooted KFHD running Nova Launcher and Google Play. (special offers and auto-update disabled). Mojito would have to offer something really drool-worthy for me to move beyond what I have. |

They do claim a different chipset inside (faster graphics, etc).
However, nothing new - they did exactly this when the "new" Kindle Fire came out, leaving the original in the dust (and the older OS on this one actually worked better). I am hoping that the new version will let me see my library again (impossible on the current gen of tablets, unless I want to wait a half-hour or more). I can access things on the carousel or favorites and the wait isn't horrid for non-books, but viewing books is a no-go. |
