Goodreader, iAnnotate reading from common directory
Hi, I have both good reader and iannotate and 50 gig of Pdf. How can I upload them in such a way that both PDF readers can read them. This is because if I put them all inside good reader, the other reader can't access them and vice versa.

You can't right now. Huge drawback of the iPad for me.
Supposedly it will be fixed with the next OS update which will add a common file area for documents. But that's not coming until fall. |

iAnnotate doesn't have good file handling support yet. Goodreader however, has drop box support, so that might be a good idea as some sort of middleman.
Hmmm.. I should elaborate a bit I think... With e drop box app, you can send documents to both good reader and ianotate, however, from iannotate you can't save the files back to dropbox... Last edited by athlonkmf; 05-05-2010 at 02:05 PM. |

iAnnotate update!
Hey Guys, We just updated iAnnotate with the goal of addressing precisely the file transfer issues that you mentioned!
Here's a quick run through of the changes: - A redesigned and streamlined interface - You can receive, modify and send annotated docs through email! - Transfer PDFs via iTunes USB - Download any PDF link with the integrated web browser - Share files with other apps. - A redesigned document finder now includes favorites, tag search, new/recent documents, and more. - Text annotation summaries are available to read and share. - Two finger scroll allows lets you scroll while editing - Many other minor interface improvements and bug fixes based on excellent user feedback! We'd love to know what you think, and we're super attentive to our forums if you have any questions at all. |

Unfortunately you can't have a common file directory among apps right now. I recommend keeping all of your pdfs in Goodreader and then transfer one to iAnnotate when you need to annotate it as I think Goodreader offers a much better reading experience.
You can transfer from Goodreader to iAnnotate using the "Manage Files" menu (Manage Files -> select files to transfer -> click "Open In..." button). You can also transfer from iAnnotate to Goodreader by clicking the tab for the pdf, choose "Share...", then "Open In...". Note that Goodreader can't read pdf annotations, so anything you send from iAnnotate to Goodreader will look like an unmarked pdf. Last edited by lilman; 05-21-2010 at 04:38 PM. |
