I'll begin with support for three classics-

1 to The Woman in White
1 to Historia Calamitatum
1 to The Hunchback of Notre-Dame

The list as a whole is great but many of them I want to research a little more and maybe read samples of before I make my voting decisions, however these three I'm already very aware of and know I'd like to support.

I actually remember back when I joined the general book club (before the lit club existed) and noticed The Woman in White had been picked a few months prior and thinking to myself that I wished I'd been there for it, and I still haven't got to reading it yet all these years later. So in a way if that's our selection it'll be a full circle for me from when I first came here, lol.

Historia Calamitatum has also been on my tbr for a long time and it's short and, um, not so sweet I guess. I also like that, looking at the stats on Dazrin's charts for the clubs, that if we choose it we'll set a new record for the oldest selection of any club here (the current record-holder is Dante's Inferno at a spry 1320 release date).

I loved Les Miserables when I read it, so I'd be up for another Hugo. The only adaptation I've seen of Hunchback is an old silent film version. It's also timely considering the recent fire at Notre Dame... which I have to wonder if that might have been part of the reason for the nomination. Either way that could add to a discussion. I've only ever been to Notre Dame once, when I was younger. We went on holiday to Paris from England and had a stop at the cathedral. I'd enjoy revisiting it by book.

Nutshell by Ian McEwan - 1 (I almost nominated this one too since I have never read anything by McEwan and he is supposed to excel at this kind of category)

The Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo - 1 (for a total of 2 when combined with my previous post)
