And his sources are somewhat dubious...and often laughable. Go back to the unquoted post #1. Go to the bottom of that post. There you will find where he 'works'. Last edited by Dr. Drib; 08-20-2019 at 12:11 PM. |

I've noticed a scornful attitude towards 'thegoodereader' on this forum. Do you know why people dislike him/his site so much? To me, there are plenty of garbage news sites, but I don't get why his is worse than any other.

Because he steals from other bloggers without giving credit. Then his predictions (usually based on "what if" blog posts) are usually totally fabricated using the usual anonymous "insiders" as a "source."

Isn't the history of copyright infringement of commercially published books even worse? And if he has turned over a new leaf on that, there is still the recent shafting of paying customers for ereader devices.

The problem with the goodereader blog is that it's about all we have left. Teleread has a new article about once a week, although not every week. The Digital Reader doesn't have a new article every day anymore. The Ebook Reader Blog has even fewer new articles.
The other active blogs are very slick and seem focused on selling their point of view. The only ereader blog with news on a regular basis is goodereader and we can't trust it. Barry |

What they catch a lot of flack for however is the so-called insider info and predictions which often turn out to be wrong. Last year they said the Kindle Paperwhite would have a color temperature system. That obviously wasn't the case. They also speculated that Kobo might be developing the Mini 2 (how I wish this were true!). Instead, Kobo released the Clara HD shortly thereafter. It's hard to tell whether the "inside scoop" they claim to have is real or just wishful thinking/conjecture. That being said, I still follow their Youtube channel and blog but take predictions about anything with a grain of salt. Last edited by azayn; 08-20-2019 at 10:52 PM. Reason: Typo |

That came "before my time." I'm just going by what I've personally seen him do. Apparently people who are ordering various manufacture's readers on his website are getting them, but I don't know what happened with the crowd-funded ones (that's probably what you're talking about).

I read them daily now that there isn't anyone else doing an ereader blog and I often watch their reviews. The other blogs, when they were doing reviews, got things right a lot more often. Barry |

Goodereader has posted another prediction of this for 2020. Up to 10.1 inches, with buttons and warm lighting, apparently.
