Drag & drop - Load into calibre based on windows order

Not sure if there's a thread for functionality request. I just noticed that even though in my windows folder the books are alphabetically arranged. Then I (highlight all of them and) drag & drop to Calibre, they are not loaded alphabetically. Sometimes there are off in arrangement. With OCD kicking in, I would prefer that that are loaded into calibre in the same order. How to do this?

By reading the manual.

https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/gui.html#search-sort

Quote:
You can sort them by title, author, date, rating, etc. by clicking on the column titles. You can also sub-sort, i.e. sort on multiple columns. For example, if you click on the title column and then the author column, the book will be sorted by author and then all the entries for the same author will be sorted by title.
calibre remembers your last sort, opens using that sort.

Also see tweaks.

??? Does a brick and mortar Library receive books in a specific order? Nope.
They catalog and Sort as they come in the door.

That is what Calibre is all about. Catalog and storing . With an extremely healthy set of tools to search and sort and even convert.

GBM pointed you at the tools and manual pages that may apply to your case.

Yeah, small annoyance I also use date sort as a fallback/default.

Usually I don't mind but when batch adding a new series I add one by one so the date is also ordered.

IIRC with drag and drop it depends on the order you selected the items you are dragging.

At least in other Windows applications the order is determined by where your mouse is when you start dragging: processing starts with the one under your mouse cursor. So try this: select all, then move your mouse to the top of the list and drag the first item into Calibre.

Thanks to all those responding!
@kovidgoyal & Zetmolm, what I do in the windows files explorer
1. Sort by name
2. Click on first item
3. Hold down Shift key
4. Press down key until I reach the bottom
5. Click and hold on first item
6. then drag & drop into Calibre

Anyway because it's a huge collection that I'm doing the drag & drop, I just let it be (whatever order they turn out in Calibre) since I don't want to add them one by one.
