As title really, the error file is, (is this my virus checker stopping it?).

"calibre, version 7.7.0 (win32, embedded-python: True)
Failed to update Kobo firmware: Failed: Downloading Kobo firmware update

HTTP Error 403: Forbidden

This is a Kobo Utilities problem. The URL to download firmware does not work.

Thank you for the advice, I just tried the Kobo Desktop and it downloaded from there.

Those seem to be last updated Aug 2023. That is a long time ago

(I also archived older firmware so I could roll back when a bad release hit.)

There hasn't been a new update for a long time. The last Kobo firmware update was in August 2023 and there's been nothing since.

That's the last time we had a new Kobo firmware.

When the new devices come out, they'll have a newer firmware and then a new firmware for most devices will come out. That's how it's been when a new device comes out.
