The Hidden Masterpiece (Le Chef-d’oeuvre inconnu) Translated by Katharine Prescott Wormeley A short story about the nature of artistic creativity; set in the early seventeenth century. The central character is the young Nicholas Poussin so (for reasons that will become clear) I have added an illustration of one of Poussin’s nudes. This work is assumed to be in the Life+70 public domain OR the copyright holder has given specific permission for distribution.
