I like the Robots books too, both for the interesting issues they tackle and because they cross-over (!) into my favorite mystery genre.
I'd be hard-pressed to choose, though, between the Foundation and Robots - they are pretty different, and both, IMO, great. Quote:

Aren't Rosetta and open Road the same? I haven't researched, just assumed they are. Last edited by ZodWallop; 09-26-2022 at 03:38 PM. |

I feel Asimov was more interested in writing robots. At least I can say that his robots usually have more personality than most of his humans.

Spoiler:
Asimov was more interested in story over character development, which is why many of his characters don't have a lot of personality. I don't think the robots had more personality than the human characters (or at least not more than Elijah Bailey, the main character of the first three), but it felt that way because we didn't expect robots to have personalities at all. We remember their personalities better because of that. |

Of course, Heinlein had planned it even if it wasn't widely known. For Asimov, it required a bunch of tinkering and messing around. And really, what's wrong with an author having multiple worlds rather than tying them all together? |

Asimov didn't tie them together until the late 80s (1988 with Prelude to Foundation), while Heinlein published the Future History chart in 1953, so it's unlikely it was because of that. Last edited by Manabi; 09-28-2022 at 09:16 PM. |
