The Spirit Ring; Lois McMaster Bujold

I've just finished re-reading this on my CyBook. An excellent historical fantasy set in 16th Century Italy.

Available in drm-free Multiformat at Fictionwise, and currently at 50% discount, so only $3.73, or $3.17 to club members.

The Spirit Ring was Bujold's first attempt at fantasy, and it was not well-received, which caused her to go back to writing science fiction for many years before trying fantasy again.

It's certainly different, and has a slight YA feel about it - the protagonist is a 15yr old girl. But I enjoyed it and have it permanently on my Cybook - with all the other books she wrote for Baen and HarperCollins.
