KINDLE FIRE HD AND CALIBRE

Hi, I have tried everything to try to get Calibre to see my Kindle Fire, but can't seem to get the device icon to come up at top of the screen whenever I connect it to my pc. I have Windows XP on my computer. Is this the reason why? I have the latest version of Calibre (1.2). Kindle does appear in My Computer, but doesn't have a drive letter. I don't have any ignored devices and the Kindle Fire plug in in enabled. I went into Preferences>miscellaneous and then clicked on Debug Device Detection and this is what came up:-

calibre 1.2 isfrozen: True is64bit: False
Windows-XP-5.1.2600-SP3 Windows ('32bit', 'WindowsPE')
('Windows', 'XP', '5.1.2600')
Python 2.7.4
Windows: ('XP', '5.1.2600', 'SP3', 'Multiprocessor Free')

Please can someone tell me if I am wasting my time trying to sort this out.

Thanks,

The Fire is an MTP device, which are supported only on Windows Vista and later, and on Linux. MTP devices are not supported on XP or MacOS.

See How do I use calibre with my Android phone/tablet or Kindle Fire HD? in calibre's FAQs
