Search & Replace changes in 3.0
I notice that as of 3.0, if I select some text and press ctrl-F, what appears in the search box now has all the spaces quoted using backslashes. This is really ugly, and if I want to edit the search it makes it much harder to figure out what's going on. There isn't any reason to quote spaces in a RE, so please can we have the old 2.x behaviour back?

This doesn't have anything to do with 3.0. Escaping is done by the regex module. 3.0 contains an updated version of that module (because it fixes some bugs). This is the change in in the regex module that causes it:
