Sorry, we can't do this in koreader right now. An easier way is to display a random jpg image at sleep (as coolreader does) but this function isn't implemented on koreader yet

What might be nice is the approach tethering used for his PowerOff function. He used a .html file so you can have mixed text and images, basically a very simple web page. Luck; Ken |

Hi
Proof-reading: a little wish I've used koreader to proofread two full books, a big and a smaller one. As I've been advised, I used the "highlight" function coupled with the "booktitle".lua file written in the history folder. In this file, each highlighted sentence is given this way (top left here being the page number): Code:
[217] = { [1] = { ["datetime"] = "2014-08-14 10:01:37", ["drawer"] = "lighten", ["pos0"] = "/body/DocFragment[6]/body/p[130]/text().827", ["pos1"] = "/body/DocFragment[6]/body/p[130]/text().860", ["text"] = "sans peine le_nom de ces victimes" } }, I think however it could be improved if the sentences were not mixed and were written in strict chronological order, one after another. Now they are mixed haphazardy. Also, I have the feeling that this tool is not strong enough and can easily lose some highlighted sentences even with careful use. If it kept an incremental counter of these highlighted sentences, we could check if everything is OK instead of being suspicious... The pos0 and pos1 elements are not really very useful... but we are not obliged to look at them ![]() Last edited by roger64; 08-14-2014 at 12:32 PM. |

I am nearly done with that one (random Picture instead of "suspended" message). Just have to fix some minor things, and I still have a problem with the landscape mode...

Hi there,
I just updated Koreader to the latest version (13-8-2014). Unfortunately, the Koreader icon stopped working - it seems that it is not connected to the program any longer. In retrospect, I think I did what I had done in previous updatings - just replacing the old Koreader folder with the new one. I also tried to keep the old "data", "history" and "cache" folders. But either way, koreader stopped responding to the secret button - it opens as a finished book/picture. My third try was to update the firmware to 3.5 but still no luck. Could anyone help me identify the problem? Thank you. |

2 Questions
Hi there,
Just a couple of questions: 1) Would it be possible to make a long press on the home icon when reading a book exit koreader rather than returning to file manager? As the power button doesn't turn off my Kobo Touch when reading, it means exiting book, then exiting file manager, then powering off in the Kobo Start Menu. 2) In the latest nightly I have a Wikipedia option when highlighting a word - it seems to be always greyed out. I started nickel and then switched to koreader, but still didn't have the option, am I missing something? Thanks for a great piece of software! Mike |

After that, following the instructions carefully, put the koreader.png back in the root folder and properly eject your device and disconnect the USB cable. You should then see, on your Kobo, processing the new media. With that done you can connect through the USB cable again and put the KoboRoot.tgz file into the .kobo directory. After safely ejecting the device and disconnecting the USB cable, you should see it updating. The icon should start Koreader again. Luck; Ken |

Hi Ken,
I tried 5 times following the instructions but the icon still doesn't open Koreader. Is there any other possibility you can think of? Since I moved some folders from kobo to sd card, I figured that any history or data had no use. I used the brand new koreader folder without any modification. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to help. Thank you |

named "Nickel", the Kobo software must have properly processed the koreader.png file and the "fmon" program must have a script telling it what to do. You need to have installed the fmon program or have it installed when you install the KoboLauncher and Coolreader from the pbchess download. If you don't need to launch Koreader from within Nickel, then you can use tshering's "Kobo Start Menu" to launch Koreader. With that you don't need the koreader.png. My old install guide. The guide using The Kobo Start Menu. The WiKi install instructions. Luck; Ken |

Thank you, Ken.
I didn't move or remove the "history" and "data" folders - I replaced the new ones with the old ones first so I could have all my reading history in the new version of koreader. Then I figured that maybe the old history folder caused the problem as I had moved some books to the sd card - maybe that confused the program. I used the full newly-downloaded koreader to try - without replacing new folders with old ones in it. The result was the same. The icon does not work. I will check out the guides you posted before. Thank you. |

You are right. I tried that link too last night. It was broken. I had fmon - I think it was files monitor - but I wanted to reinstall everything so I deleted it. With the koreader program, a new folder named fmon was created but it didn't contain the monitor - I think. As the link is broken, I opted to install the Kobo Start Menu instead. I am running the second installation with factory reset again.
