Tragically, that's the fate of a pheonix: fire, ash, then rebirth. During the cycle a pheonix will lose the win since the transition from ash to rebirth takes time.

I wonder: If you take the ashes of a pheonix and divide it into two piles, will you end up with two pheonixes (pheoni?)?

That's a false assumption since we have no way to know when the thread will actually end. Like The Doctor's regenerations, there will eventually be an end to this thread, but it is possible that everyone who is currently posting will have (insert Dead Parrot Sketch references to death) and someone who has not been born yet might take the final win.

I disagree! You are making a supposition without the ability to determine its validity. Like you, I can make the claim that I'm going to win and my claim is as valid as yours. However, the claim can be undone by someone who is not you and is not me.

The future is unwrit, but the present is writ, and the past has been written. In the present, as of the moment I hit the "Submit Reply" button, I had the win. I likely won't keep it, but I had it. For one brief, shining, and glorious moment, I had the win.
