Yeah, but that was a very rare side effect. I'm sure that part will grow back. Eventually.

I'm here. Just finished my VAT declaration. Yuck. Turns out that I can get a refund, which is cool; unless I made a mistake, which would be extremely uncool.

I hate tax time. Last year, they said I made a mistake. Said I overpaid by $1.13. They sent me a check and a copy of my mistake. Two weeks later, they sent me a letter saying I underpaid by $1.13 and included a copy of my mistake. It was the exact one they sent the first time! And they wanted their due, plus late fees! I sent them their check back.

Mamma mia, I just woke up from a 3 hours nap after my last lunch and I find out that I missed a major rescue event. I hope that the dog is safe, and that Florence is in no peril of being deported for fraudulent tax declaration.

I am getting ready for my last supper. Who wants to play Judas?

I always underestimate my deductions just to be on the safe side. Many years ago, the State of Virginia found an error in my return and said I owed them an additional $100.00. That made me go over my return with a fin-tooth comb. I found two more errors, sent back their original letter, thanked them for letting me know I had made a error, and showed them where not only did I not owe them $100.00, but they owed me $200.00.

They paid. I don't hear from them too much these days about my returns.

Do you fill that declaration because you have a business?

I have something similar with my business that I have to fill two declarations of taxes every 3 months. One federal(Canada) and one provincial(Québec).
They declare what I've sold and the taxes I've collected for those sales minus the taxes I've paid for brute material purchases and office supplies and investment.

Yes, that's pretty much it, but I do it once a year. Every quarter I have to pay an advance based on an estimation.

The thing is, for almost all of my contracts I go through a broker in the U.K., so I bill them and they bill my client. Since they are in the U.K., I don't collect VAT on my sales, but I do recover some on my purchases. So the tax office ends up owing me money. Last year the amount they owed me was too low to get a refund, but this year I should be able to get one, if I understood this correctly.
