Who knows? That might be me that just drove by.
Sydney has highly variable weather across it. I am at one end butted against the Great Dividing Range, the sea (where the public weather reports for Sydney are coming from) is at the other end. Sure it isn't too bad at the sea - but the difference can be extreme as we get weather from over the Great Divide - and over that divide is the greater inland of Australia, deserts and all.
So, you do drive bys, eh?
