The high temperature today never broke through freezing, but the sun was painfully brilliant through occasional clouds. The kind of day that makes for very noisy vinyl siding.

Two tornadoes touched down by my mother's house last night near 1am. Everyone is okay though.

Today here in town they decided to test the sirens. It's too sunny out so I knew it was a drill. The cat freaked and ran but my husband slept right through it snoring loudly. This is why he needs me.

Most communities that I've ever known about, test the sirens at 11:00 (or sometimes 10:00 in non-daylight savings time; if they haven't been reprogrammed) on the first Tuesday of every month. That was today. So yes, they were tested all over the place here, too. That's probably just a normal testing.

They never test here. The first year we were here they did twice, non last year and first time this year. I bet the mayor requested it after last night.

Mom was shook up. No basement just a very narrow hallway to get into. It brought back memories for me. I was on my bed when I got the notification on my tablet. I didn't dare call them till after the danger was over. Once I did I calmed her down and then found out they were okay.

Likewise, 60F all week and snow over the weekend. And winds today over 50 mph. They've closed the observation floor of the Willis Tower (really the Sears Tower) today. :O

Our best meteorologist down here is really upset that any of the models are predicting snow. He swears it has been far too warm for too many days for any of that nonsense. But, then I remember January of 2000 when it was 80 degrees a few weeks before the blizzard. He has upgraded his "never happening" to 10% chance now.

We hit the low 60s today. It was mostly sunny with only an occasional breeze -- I managed to spend an hour on the deck.

The clouds came in just in time for sunset. It's supposed to start snowing tonight, and we're supposed to get about 4 inches of the white stuff. It shouldn't be too bad on the roads -- they've warmed up lately, and the snow should melt quickly -- but it could be a problem for the trees, etc.

44F at 8:15 when we went out for our run. 45F at 9:30 when we got back. We are expecting light snow tomorrow. The high yesterday was 74F...

Bright and sunny here. High near 80 today.

Last week while on vacation, we had everything from cloudy and 60's to low around 40. One night had a thunderstorm. Also was sunny and nearly 80 one day.
We were in a pop-up camper.
