The Fisherman by John Langan. Anyone read this? It sounds good to me, but the reviews are mixed.

In upstate New York, in the woods around Woodstock, Dutchman's Creek flows out of the Ashokan Reservoir. There's almost a subgenre in horror of 'towns flooded to make an artificial lake, holds dark secrets'. There's The Chill, Beneath Still Waters and Dawn of the Vampire.

I have almost the entire Mayfair / Vampire chronology in (mismatched) paper but I grabbed it anyway. Those books are too chunky for me to comfortably hold, especially after being used to my ereaders for years.

That's exactly the same reason I bought them. My First Edition Hardbacks are currently in storage. That first book in the series is GREAT!

I think it may be a time for a re-read.

I read and enjoyed Mark's Sightings a few years back (why aren't there more horror stories about UFO abductions?). I've also picked up Ancient Enemy and Devil's Island by him, but haven't read them yet.

Beaumont was a writer on the original Twilight Zone, including one of the very best episodes, The Howling Man (the original of which is included in this collection).
