I echo the opinion of CRussel about the quality of the books in this sale.

I think that all of the examples that CRussel mentioned are fiction. I went through the non-fiction selection. I can report those audiobooks seem to be topnotch--having great ratings and all of those kinds of things.

Before you buy, do check the ratings of the ebook version, as well as the ratings of the audiobook, though. I didn't check all of the nonfiction books and there might be a clunker or two among their number.

Unfortunately, my wallet just took a big hit because I found too many great audiobooks in this sale.

In my eyes, Audible has partially redeemed itself for that turkey (a little Thanksgiving day pun there. ha) of a sale that it called a "hidden gems" sale a couple of weeks ago. I had posted a very trenchant message about that sale. As bad as the selection was in that sale, the selection in this "treat yourself" sale is good.

Maybe uncle Jeffrey (Bezos) reads our Mobileread posts and wanted to make amends. hahahaha

Really? I did listen to the samples and thought they sounded fine. Nothing in particular stood out for me, one way or another--the sample narration simply sounded like any other British voice.

That's fine, then. And I don't know if she does all her books the same. Even good narrators can have a bad book. But the one I listened to was just awful. (And, TBC, I listen to a lot of English narrators.)

I'm pretty forgiving with narrators--as long as I can understand what they're saying and they neither read in a monotone nor go hog wild on character voices, I'm good. Still haven't decided on the Heyer audiobooks, though ...

Fbone created a thread a short time ago about free and discounted ebooks from Curiosity Quills Press. I wasn't familiar with Curiosity Quills Press, but all of the titles that I checked were of the paranormal, fantasy, sci-fi, and maybe similar genres.

I just wanted to let you guys know that, with this sale, the Whispersync companions to these ebooks (some titles don't have them, of course) end up being very cheap on at least some of them. To give you a for-instance, one of the free titles is Nefertiti's Heart (The Artifact Hunters Book 1), by A.W. Exley. It is 301 pages long and rated 4.3/5.0, from 295 reviews. The WS Audible narration is $1.99, so the entire WS deal is only $1.99! There are three more free titles, and all of those have $1.99 WS Audible narrations, too.

BTW--the next price tier after $0.00 is $0.99. I count five titles with that price.

yeah, they expired it early. if you can still see it on the home page, call them. they can give you a 90 day zero cost trial, if they can't get the 99 cent/month trial to work.
