Oh. ..... Right. .... Duh. Confounded magnetic case (new to me.) I forgot it HAD a power button.
(small voice) thank you ..... PS It did another software update last night, and the "cloud" button is back to being selectable during collection assignation, so I can remove the stars from the ones I don't really want to keep on the device. Go back to your regularly scheduled stations. |

One thing a sleep cover does is keep the power button functioning a lot longer then it would have otherwise.

![]() I'll get a look at the screen on my Voyage in a few hours. I sure hope it's one of the better ones. If not, I'll send it back for a refund and buy another one. At least once. If I can't get a good screen in a couple or three tries, I guess I'll settle for a PW2, although I really want the improved resolution of the Voyage because of poor eyesight (even after cataract surgery). |

My screen looks fine to me. I don't read in a dark room anyway.
I'm happy with my Voyage - I even like the way the page turn buttons work. Now if I can just find a decent case . . . ![]() |

I'm on my third Voyage - first was really yellow, I went the replacement (which was a refurbished, btw so it had already been returned once) for the second and while it was less yellow, it was also muddier (less bright overall), and instead for going the replacement route again, just ordered another one on December 8th.
The third is better than the first two, however, instead of yellow, I see pink shading. Which I really notice if I read in landscape mode and it's the right-hand side of the screen. I can return this one until 1/31 so I'm probably going to order one more time in the middle of January and between the two put it to bed once and for all. I did order a Paperwhite to see what the difference was (I had upgraded from a KK so lots of bells and whistles compared to that) and like the poster above, I really like the auto-bright and better text quality - side by side preferred the Voyage and the PW seemed as big and thick as the KK and I do like the size of the Voyage since I take it everywhere with me. So the PW wasn't really an option after I had the Voyage. |

After reading for a couple of hours here is my initial assessment. At times you can notice a slight color deviation at the top but on mine it is very mild. At times I look at the screen and it is as perfect as some of the online reviews you see, no shadows, a clean/clear light throughout the entire screen, and a definitely darker and crisper text than the Paperwhite 2.
You probably need to have both side by side to appreciate the difference in text. Is it an earth shattering difference? No but nonetheless I think most people would appreciate the higher quality of the Voyage. I understand why some do prefer the warmer Paperwhite screen and again there are times the top portion of the Voyage has almost a faint pinkish hue but the thing is my Paperwhite 2 at times has a faint yellow or cloudy hue at the top/middle. But the odd thing is the Paperwhite 2 looks more like a real book than the Voyage, perhaps mirroring the imperfections of paper. Which makes the $100 dollar difference all the more troubling, if the Voyage did not have that top color deviation it would be the perfect reading device and worth the extra money, that said I'm still not sure which one I will go with. After seeing both I understand both sides, the people who say it can never be perfect and they stop noticing any gradient differences and the ones who can't tolerate it. If Kobo was in the store where one could try it, that could be a way to go for those who can't accept it but the customer service and lack of the Amazon storefront is probably a high negative for most. |

There's also a third group: those who simply don't see any colour gradient. This appears to be the majority. You noted yourself, I think, in an earlier post in this thread that none of the reviews you'd read mentioned it.

The flush screen is better and I am using the page press buttons, I have it set at the lowest pressure, no haptic, if you rest your thumb on the sensor it usually turns with ease. |

And after using the Voyage some more I can confidently report that once you use it, I doubt you will want to go back to the Paperwhite. It is an impressive device, for those who have been unfortunate to receive screens that are very noticeable in terms of gradient, I would return it because there are better screens out there.

I keep my Paperwhite 2 as backup, just in case, but I can't see ever going back to it willingly after using the Voyage for the last 2 months.
