No playing out of turn. In on-line Mornington Crescent, it is vital to read to the end of the thread before making your move.

Also, note the conditional in his play — he was clearly hoping to catch someone out, and it seems he succeeded!

The last valid move was mine, to Temple. Now while you could choose to play Wood Green at this point, I wouldn't advise it!

Unfortunately, the game is currently double gated, and given the cross hatch on the diagonal and the reversed escaltors at Moorgate, stonework cannot be played. Therefore you must reverse two plays or wait until Angel has been crossed.

Hah! We're playing Gardner's modification of the London. Scottish and Edinburgh Ancient and Modern rules, so Nid cannot be declared unless a player has previously skipped the Bank. And attempts to call Nid result in bifucation, so:

That's only because, by forcing bifurcation, after skipping, you'll have command of the southern transcept. That would weaken his ability to play along the metropolitan and prevent him from moving the necropolis line against any diagonals. Don't listen to him.

You b...... nasty person.

Excellent move.

Now, lets see.

I can't cross with London Bridge as that would leave Cockfosters exposed.

Knightsbridge could lead to Totenham Court Road and force Burnt Oak, which is clearly unsafe.

Bow Church could result in a DLR double reverse putting me into Swiss Cottage leading to a red-green exclusion, even if I manage to get into Tower Hill.

Farringdon is currently weak and could result in the loss of guardian status which would result in a double Moument to climb.

Hmm...

Ah, now, if you miss that, he crosses whilst they reverse and the third bus misses, I might, just...

Gunnersbury!

Not a valid move. You really are a novice at Mornington Crescent, aren't you?

Or was this a joke reference to Canary Wharf? That would be valid, but hardly advisable at this stage of the game.

No, I'm just trying to muck you up.

As if I have more than a passing knowledge where and what anything is in the UK.

I suppose it's too much to expect many foreigners to appreciate the finer points of the game. You just don't know what you're missing.

Not appreciating Morning Crescent is on a par with not liking cricket!

@Javed:

I'll lay back in my office chair and have a look at this:

Mornington Crescent Simplified and Explained for Novices

which explains rather ... well, it explains. Something.

It seems to be a fairly straight-forward explanation. A handy introduction for novice players.

The current play remains at Finsbury Park.

Hmhm. Seems to be so. And as I'm only watching this from the boundary I would not dream to utter something as devious and nasty as
