What meteorological phenomenon (phenomena) affects you this day ?

Below freezing all day, but it was very sunny this morning and lightly overcast this afternoon. I sat on the deck in the sun for half an hour and it was actually pretty pleasant. I do have to get some sort of pad for the seat, though. That steel mesh seat is pretty chilly!

Most of the snow is still on the grass, but the streets and my driveway are clear.

Tonight's snowy mess should just miss us, passing to the south and east -- unless it changes path ever so slightly.

When I woke up at 3am there was a thin layer of snow covering everything outside. Five hours later not much more had been added to it and it was sleeting. However, by that time over 200 accidents had happened on roads all over the country. In some places more than 3cm of snow has fallen.

The result: the country has come to a standstill. People are advised not to go out and trains have been cancelled. According to one prediction it'll stay icy until about 2pm in our region.

I'm still hoping for more snow.

How horrible Tom! You are now going to have to routinely check your temps till he is out of that phase. You can get gadgets that have an alarm if the temp gets in the danger zone. Amazon sells them. I've had it on my wish list for years.

I have an alarm to let me know when the power goes out, but I hadn't heard of devices to let you know when the temperature drops. Something like that wasn't even on my radar until he came here. He also likes to pick things up and throw them away. Several of our Pyrex bowls are missing their lids and two days ago my ex-daughter-in-law found her car keys in the trash.

Same here. Parts of our area got 5", but we really mostly got sleet and ice and then snow this morning.

I've been throwing bird food off the deck - no way to safely get to the feeder yet ...

It was 13 below when I got up about 8am. Three hours later, we're at 3 below so I think we might just get above zero today.

No new snow. Between Sunday night and Monday night's snow, we got at least a foot.

We were at a nice balmy 18 when last I looked.

And, of course, the path did change, moving ever so slightly inland.

So, instead of missing us we've got two to three inches of snow and it will continue to flurry for an hour or two. It's a little more than a nuisance, but it's tolerable. The roads are slow, but I don't have to go anywhere until tomorrow night. The snow has been the "dry" kind, so it's not packing down, and the temps have stayed below 20° so it's staying light and loose. I'll tackle the driveway a little later.

Yeah, we topped out at 2, but the top of the county got upwards of 10.

It is, however, COLD now. Temp is dropping 2ish degrees an hour right now. Currently 25F

Birds are sheltering under the deck in piles of leaves. They've beaten a track in the snow to the area where the seed lands, then the track curves back under the deck.

Very cold tonight & tomorrow night = absolutely no melting until Tues or Wed .... and Friday predicted to reach 68 F!!!!!!

I don't know how much we got in total, but there appears to be about 4-5 inches of hard snow out there now. Hard because the stuff was topped off with sleet. Haven't been out driving and don't intend to.
